Privacy policy
Effective September 26, 2026.
SCHACC Inc. is the South Carolina Haitian American Chamber of Commerce, a South Carolina nonprofit corporation (“SCHACC”, “we”). This policy explains what we collect on schacc.org and what we do with it.
What we collect
Contact and interest forms. When you use the contact form, the “Join the Chamber” form, or the event-updates form, we collect what you type: your name, email, and, where the form asks, your business, phone and message. We also record your IP address and browser type to block spam.
Payments. Membership dues, event registrations and donations are processed by Zeffy, our payment provider. Your card details go to Zeffy and never to us. SCHACC never receives your card number. Zeffy sends us your name, email, phone if given, the amount, and the form you used. We keep that record.
Member portal and directory. If you are a member, we keep your account email and the listing details you provide: business name, contact name, city, category, phone, website and description. We also keep your tier, status and renewal date. Sign-in is by emailed link, not a password: when you request one, we keep a one-time code and your IP address.
What is public
The member directory shows the business details a member chooses to publish: business name, contact name, category, city, website and description. It shows a phone number only if the member opts in by ticking “Show my phone number”. It never shows your email. You can change or hide your listing in the portal, or ask us to remove it.
How we use it
We use this information to answer you, run memberships and events, keep the directory, send sign-in links and receipts, and prevent fraud. If you asked for event updates, we email you about Chamber events and news. Every such email has an unsubscribe link. We do not sell or rent your information. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
Who helps us
- Zeffy processes payments.
- Resend delivers our emails.
- Our server is hosted in the United States.
- The Zeffy form embedded on our pages may set its own cookies under Zeffy’s privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies
Signing in to the member portal sets one session cookie, and only when a member signs in. It keeps you signed in for up to 30 days and is used for nothing else. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
- Messages and sign-ups: up to 24 months.
- Payment records: 7 years, for accounting.
- Directory listings: while you are a member, then 90 days.
- Sign-in codes: expire in 15 minutes and are deleted within 30 days.
Your choices
Email info@schacc.org to see, correct, or delete your personal data, or to stop emails. We will reply within 30 days. We may keep payment records the law requires us to keep.
Security
We use encrypted connections and hashed sign-in tokens, and we limit who can access our database. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.
Children
Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We will post changes here and update the effective date.
